Chronicles of an Emerging Internet Marketer

Archive for July, 2007

This blog has been like a ghost town.  Sorry about that.

I've been upto a whole lot.  I'm back to focusing on article marketing and link building big time, and this time it is going to stick.  I've learned about some excellent resources and have a plan in place.

I'm mostly going to outsource the article writing. That will be for quite a few websites but at a fabulous price. Then the articles will be submitted to directories through a submission service, and they'll all be unique.  I'll even be able to recoup most of my costs for the article outsourcing through Associated Content.  Pretty cool.

My focus and motivation to move forward and take consistent action is greatly influenced by the membership forum at earn1KaDay.com.  It's a very active, generous, supportive group of people.  The owner, Dennis Becker, is creating video series to demonstrate methods to earn income online.  There are 2 very detailed tutorials available right now and more to come. The forum is only a couple months old and is evolving according to the members' interests.  Dennis is actively involved and other leaders are emerging.  It's very exciting and pretty cheap too.  Here's a video created by one of the members if you'd like to learn more - E1KaDay

I've done some more work on my Squidoo lens.  It's kind of fun and I have lots more ideas for the coming weeks… or months?

That's it for now.  I'll be back soon.

I am loving Backlink Solutions

This membership allows you to post to over 100 blogs to create backlinks to your sites. All you have to do is post a snippet of content with an embedded anchor text/destination url and you're good to go. There is supporting software available both to create the snippet with your link, and to post to the blog automatically. You don't have to access the blog itself at all.  You can create backlinks to any of your sites that you want to right from the same interface. Very easy, and I'm already figuring out shortcuts to make the process quicker.

The downside is that Backlink Solutions is a new service and a number of the blogs have not had a lot of time to age and build page rank yet.  You start out with access to blogs with PR 1-4.  Most have PR2 or PR3.  I understand as you stick around, you will have access to blogs with higher PR, and I assume with time and content, the original blogs will grow in rank as well.

This is a great source of links. Combine these with web 2.0 backlinks, some directories, some article sites, a couple of your own blogs and Squidoo lenses, and you could build up a good number of links pointing to your sites.  Maybe not enough to take on the big guys in the real competitive niches, but you sure don't have to go there. Focus on keywords that are less searched with lower competition and you can be very successful with your search engine ranking.

That's where I'm headed.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Today I’m highlighting my Squidoo Lens on Boy Million. I worked on it for quite awhile this afternoon, one of those things I’ve been wanting to get back to for a long time. It’s still a work in progress but progress was made. Getting the html correct for the importing of images was definitely a challenge, but I prevailed.

I felt some subtle urging to put some time into the lens when I learned I was ranking #3 on Google for the keyword “cheap backlinks.” Pretty cool.

Working on the lens was kind of fun, actually. I’d love to try another. Actually, I have tons of training types of info on Squidoo from a bum marketing perspective, a social networking perspective, and just all around basics. Getting a number of Squidoo lenses up will have to be a 5bucksaday project one of these weeks.

bmcolor3small-copy.jpgIf anyone wants to check it out, and even give it a rating, that would be wonderful. Give it some attention. While you’re at it, consider a link on Boy Million. Links really are huge when it comes to SEO and ranking in the SERPs.

That’s all for now. Have a good one!

I wrote recently about my brief trek into Black Hat marketing when I considered going with Trackback Spider. I learned I couldn’t use it. It just didn’t feel okay to me. It is spam.

But I still want backlinks to all my sites so I jumped at another opportunity. I learned of new program called Backlink Solutions. The creator provides more than 100 blogs members can use to create backlinks to their sites by posting. There is a money back guarantee, so I figured I have nothing to lose and I might gain a whole lot of benefit.

The Backlink Solutions system reminds of Article Underground’s blog announcing system, with a couple marked differences. Maybe a detailed comparison of the programs would be helpful at some point, but for now I’ll say Backlink Solution has 4 times the blogs to start with and, for the earlybirds, a considerably lower price.

The most recent blog I created took literally weeks to get indexed in Google. Older sites have taken maybe 2 days using Article Underground’s blogs and social bookmarking. My new blog had the social bookmarking, but not the AU blogs, so I knew I wanted to do something more. I was on my way back to AU when I learned of Backlink Solutions, and here I am. I’m checking it out and I’ll let you know.

Have a good one, everybody!
