Chronicles of an Emerging Internet Marketer

Quite a productive day today. Much better than when I last wrote.

I’m still in the process of re-reading “5 Bucks a Day,” and compiling my list of projects, which is good. Even better is that ideas are coming to me from all over the place. That’s even better! I watched a video on CPA (cost per action) today and have lots of ideas from that. Then there’s minisites, bum marketing, adsense websites, authority sites, etc. There are countless ways to build revenue streams but focus is still vital. Build with one technique at a time and finish what I start. That’s so key to success.

I submitted some more articles to Ezine Articles this afternoon. I’m close to where I can be promoted to platinum status so articles can be approved in hours rather than days. I’m reading on the Keyword Avalanche forum that Ezine Articles is becoming more selective about what it will accept. Looks like they don’t want any articles that even appear to promote specific products. That’s good to know now, but a little late for some of my new adsense sites. I outsourced the articles and some came back looking very promotional. Oh well.

In addition to submitting articles, I have been bookmarking the pages on my sites with social bookmarking sites. I’m doing it a page at a time so it doesn’t look spammy at all. I also created a whole bunch of links to my pages from the Article Underground blogs. The point is to get links and more links. I’ll just stick with it. I’m also continuing to register with article directories in order to use Article Post Robot, which will distribute articles to hundreds of the smaller directories. The signing up process is the time consuming one. The article posting will be the easy part.

Priority for tomorrow is writing an article for InfoGoRound. If I submit one article a month, my membership is free. I don’t understand how they do it, but I sure appreciate it.

That’s all for now. It’s a good day to give someone a hug… Happy Valentines’ Day.

This is what I wrote on Senserely Yours today:

Decided to check Google again today to see where I rank for some of my keywords in the SERPs.

Blogini is the first keyword I checked on. Blogini is the ’Global Weblog Network.’ In Blogini we create and maintain a blog, and then in the background the engineers build a steady network of backlinks to our sites. It’s sort of like magic! All of a sudden we have all these backlinks and we didn’t have to do the hard work.

But, interesting results! My Technorati tags page is #7 for this word in Google and on page 3, I see an earlier entry on Senserely Yours and my bookmark page in del.icio.us. Cool! Sure says something about the power of social bookmarking, doesn’t it?

The other keyword I checked up on is Boy Million. This is a fun site where we’re building the longest list of backlinks on the internet. Check itBoy Million out if you haven’t!

With Boy Million I’m on the 2nd page on Google, at #13 with my Squidoo lens and #14 with Senserely Yours again. Pretty cool! It’s time to putsome finishing touches on my Squidoo lens.

I admit I’m bragging. I like seeing results and I’m still new enough at internet marketing that I can get excited by this level of ranking. I won’t be satisfied with this for long though…

I am struck by how much I don’t know!

Like, if someone links to my blog, how do I link back?

I have learned such an incredible amount these past months and made great progress but I stumble on such details. But I am learning, and I will be able to link to others’ blogs at some point.

Today I built another adsense website. I really like the sites I’m building as a result of my adsense coaching class. I submitted articles the other day to ezinearticles.com and they were approved. I’ve had some page views and gotten a few clicks. So, progress.

My plan:

1. Build the 5th site in my first block of sites.
2. Submit 6 articles for each site to ezine articles.
3. Mass submit the 6 articles for each site using Article Post Robot.
4. Create PR4 & PR5 backlinks to all sites by connecting to each page from the Article Underground blogs.
5. Submit all sites to social bookmarking sites using Bookmarking Demon.
6. Begin the article outsourcing process over again.

Then evaluate. If it looks promising, I’ll start the whole process again with another block of niches.

I have identified enough niches to build about 35 adsense websites similar to these first ones. The question that comes up is how to I do the keyword research after this? Keyword Elite is just not working. Not sure if it is all due the Overture deal or not. I’m in the process of exploring NicheBOT to see if I can get all the data I need using that tool.

I was offered free tickets today to a seminar that Derek Gehl’s IMC group is putting on in Minneapolis in late March. I jumped on it! What a reputable group! Derek was Corey Rudl’s right hand guy and has taken over the business following Corey’s death. This is cool news!

That’s it for now. I’m sure open to constructive feedback…

The news today is that one of my 3 new sites is now indexed by Google. I don’t know exactly when I initially published it, but 3 days ago I submitted it to a bunch of social bookmarking sites, and then 2 days ago I linked to it from some Article Underground announcer blogs. I have a couple links from 2 different sources, and the site is indexed. Pretty cool and pretty fast! Now my job is to get hundreds or thousands of links going that direction. I’ve started the process of submitting articles to ezinearticles.com. I know what to do, and now I just have to do it. I’m pretty excited though!

I tried to upload this picture for my last post, but couldn’t remember how. For a refresher, I refered back to a tutorial by Guido Stiehle that I used as my introduction to WordPress. The tutorial covers all the basics of getting a WP blog uploaded to your server, making posts, blogging and pinging, and using themes and plugins. It’s really well done, and it’s free. This tutorial and a couple others by Guido can be found at EasyWebTutorials. I highly recommend them.

Thanks for visiting. That’s all for now.

It’s time in my adsense coaching course to begin promoting our sites. The coach recommends 2 article marketing sites, so I’ve started checking into them. One costs and one is free. The coach’s plan calls for extensive submission of articles for months to come. Seems like the primary purpose for the article marketing is to get backlinks to our site. I have a couple questions about the process that haven’t been answered yet, so I’m sort of waiting for those before I move ahead with the article submission.

In the meantime I decided to try to get my sites indexed by submitting the homepages to a bunch of social bookmarking sites. It’s an experiment, and I’m very curious to see if it works. The major social bookmarking sites tend to have a pretty good PR, but even if the ranking isn’t passed on at all, I’m expecting my sites to be spidered very quickly.

My tool of choice is Bookmarking Demon. I did some research and this one seemed to stand out as being the best among the tools that automate social bookmarking. I actually found it quite easy to use, although had to rely on the videos on the sales page for the tutorial on using the software. I got a really good price on Bookmarking Demon through my Keyword Avalanche membership. You wouldn’t believe the deals I can get there on all kinds of marketing software.

Once my sites are indexed, the next step will be to announce all the content articles on Article Underground blogs. These will provide links for sure, as many as 50 per site if I take the action. I’ve actually developed quite a list of resources for bringing links to my websites. I’ll start my article marketing as soon as I’m clear on the technique the coach is recommending.

Another issue today is my fitness site that I’ve had for awhile. It’s getting some traffic, but few adsense clicks. I’ve decided it’s a good idea to redesign the site. I originally used a template from a package Joel Comm sold, so tons of people have this template. It’s all part of the duplicate content issue. Not a good idea to use anything on your site that a lot of other people may be using. So, another experiment. Will redesigning my site bring more adsense clicks? We’ll see.

That’s it for now.
